While you’re gracing the red carpet (more like strolling the dirt path) during your aerial activities, proper attire will make your experience at Treerunner Adventure much more enjoyable! At TreeRunner Adventure, you’ll be sky-high and dancing among the trees in one of our breathtaking aerial adventures, so comfort is essential to get the most out of this adventure.
One of our most frequently asked questions is, “What should I wear?” At TreeRunner Adventure, we always advise to dress in something that is comfortable for you, however, there are some standard recommendations.
Dress for Success at TreeRunner Adventure
At TreeRunner Adventure, you’ll be navigating one of our treetop obstacle courses. This can be both thrilling and challenging at times. Not having to worry about this or that on the riding up or showing too much skin won’t be an issue if you are wearing comfortable clothing. Consider the following clothing suggestions we make:
Wear loose-fitting clothing and comfortable, closed-toed shoes. Avoid long, dangling accessories that could get stuck somewhere along the obstacle course. This includes items such as hoop earrings, long necklaces, scarves, and bracelets.
Avoid shoes that can slip and fall off such as flip-flops or ballet flats.
If you have long hair, be sure to tie it back. Hair is notorious for getting stuck in the ropes and along the cables — ouch!
You’ll also want to consider that you’ll be in a full-body harness for the duration of the obstacle course, so plan your attire around it. A full-body harness wraps around your thighs and waist and attaches around the shoulders to join just below your chest. There are many places that can rub on a full-body harness, so short shorts and wearing sports bras without shirts may become very uncomfortable. Swimsuits are never allowed and shirts are always required. Consider yourself warned! Harness rubs are painful, so dress accordingly!
Before Your Visit to TreeRunner Adventure
In the summer months, the Raleigh heat can seem more like the jungle, so people want to stay as cool as they can! Before your aerial adventure, consider the following so you don’t have a wardrobe malfunction!
Move around! If you’re planning an outfit for the obstacle course, test out the comfort level by moving around. Squat, reach high, and move from side to side. If anything rides up too much, try something else.
Imagine the harness. The full-body harness hits at your thighs, groin, waist, stomach, back, and shoulders. Now, double check that your clothing covers all of these points, especially your thighs and shoulders.
Rethink spandex! While yoga pants work well because of their length, short spandex shorts can get uncomfortable quickly! They tend to ride up and roll up at the ends, making them increasingly uncomfortable in the harness as the day progresses. The best thing to do is avoid short spandex shorts!
Additional things to consider for the ultimate aerial adventure:
- Hats and visors – While the trees do provide a much-needed reprieve from the sun, you’re still exposed to it. Wearing a hat or visor is advisable and it fits well underneath a helmet.
- Sunglasses – Sunglasses are great to have during the obstacle course because you’ll be looking up, down, and all around! Protect your eyes! Keep your sunglasses with a keeper cord or croakies.
- Breathable material – If you’re looking to drown in sweat, wear cotton! Cotton absorbs moisture instead of wicking it away. Try alternative materials such as poly blends, wool, and fleece.
